A$AP Rocky denies AI use in new ‘Helicopter’ music video
A$AP Rocky has released his new music video for ‘Helicopter’ and denied the use of AI following fan response.
The Harlem rapper returned with the second single from his Don’t Be Dumb album on January 12th. The thumping track is produced by Kelvin Krash and Soufien 3000, and comes with a video directed by Dan Streit.
In the visual, Rocky hangs out of a helicopter over a city of chaos. The clip finds Rocky equipped with a baseball bat, filled with clashes with police and ultimately, a bloody ending.
Rocky posted a link to the video on X (formerly Twitter), before following up the post with a bold message. “THIS VIDEO IS NOT Ai GENERATED!” he wrote. “JUST GENERATIONAL.”
In the first verse of the song, Rocky raps, “Four, five hundred on the Hummer, no gas,” he raps. “Eighty-nine, price on the ticket, uh/ Exercise, eat all my vegetables/ Fuck up some decimals, he ’bout his business.”
He spits in the second verse, “Used to be, n*ggas do anything for a new check/ Nowadays, these days, n*ggas do anything for a blue check, check/ When tennis shoes had the check or three stripes on the side/ Way before Puma cut the check, yeah, three strikes, that’s your life, uh.”
Don’t Be Dumb is scheduled to be released on January 16th, with Rocky set to appear on Saturday Night Live the following day.
‘Helicopter’ is the second single off the album after ‘Punk Rocky‘. It arrived last week alongside a music video that starred Winona Ryder, Thundercat, and Danny Elfman.
The upcoming project will be Rocky’s first in eight years, following Testing, which was released in 2018.
