6ix9ine faces prison for probation violation
Tekashi 6ix9ine is facing up to one month in prison for violating his probation, a claim he is expected to plead guilty to.
The rapper was arrested last week after violating his release by visiting Las Vegas before drugs tests he had been avoiding showed up positive for meth.
According to court documents obtained by HipHopDX, the rapper will plead guilty in court, and prosecutors are pushing for a 30-day jail term, followed by a new one-year supervised release and surrendering of his passport.
The current probation follows the rapper’s guilty plea for racketeering, firearms offences, and drug trafficking, for which he was sentenced to two years in prison and five years of supervised release.
Since his release, however, he has been associated with several other accusations, including his arrest earlier this year in Santo Domingo for assaulting his girlfriend. In the claim, she also accused 6ix9ine of manipulation, theft, and consistently drugging her throughout their relationship.
The rapper has denied the accusations, saying: “All that jewelry is mine … that car she’s riding in I bought … the penthouse shoe [sic] got in the Dominican Republic I bought … I took care of her family, daughter — when I met her she had 2 month old baby — I put pampers and food on the table for them.”
He has yet to comment on his latest violation, and it remains to be seen whether he will be given an additional 30-day jail term; however, in a previous statement provided to Billboard, his attorney, Lance Lazzaro, revealed that he had been “charged with three technical violations regarding his supervised release” and that he was “confident that each specification will be dismissed.”
As he waits for confirmation on the ramifications of his latest violation, he also remains in the same jail as Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who is currently facing charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
Notably, the rapper’s arrest could disrupt his recent record deal. Last month, the lyricist signed a multi-million dollar record deal with Kartel Music Group to release a Latin album and was reportedly paid $1million to record a ten-song album, then $250k per show on his tours in Mexico, Central America, South America and the United States.
However, one of the deal conditions was that the ‘KOODA’ artist couldn’t have any legal issues or get arrested, which has now happened and may well result in the termination of his contract.
This is a developing story.
