Tekashi 6ix9ine arrested for violating release terms

Tekashi 6ix9ine has had many brushes with the law. The rapper was released from prison during the Covid-19 pandemic, and when he returned with ‘GOOBA’ in 2020, he broke YouTube viewing records and the Instagram Live record, with over two million people watching his first broadcast.

However, following a series of back-to-back releases in 2020, the emcee went quiet and never showed his face in hip-hop again. The rapper’s first arrest in 2018 saw him appear in a New York court and, in desperation, when he and his gang, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, faced jail time, he showed flagrant disregard for the rules of the streets, making him appear untouchable.

That said, the emcee is now facing more troubles with the law after violating the conditions of his 2020 release. Although the violation has still not been named he has been arrested by the US government and is back in custody and due to appear in federal court on November 5th.

This arrest will also damage his recent record deal. Earlier this month, the lyricist signed a multi-million dollar record deal with Kartel Music Group to release a Latin album and was reportedly paid $1million to record a ten-song album, then $250k per show on his tours in Mexico, Central America, South America and the United States.

However, one of the deal conditions was that the ‘KOODA’ artist couldn’t have any legal issues or get arrested, which has now happened and may well result in the termination of his contract.

Since his release, he has faced issues in foreign countries. In January, 2024, he was arrested in the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo, and charged with domestic violence charges after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.

Furthermore, due to financial issues and an overwhelming amount of debt, in April, the IRS repossessed the rapper’s luxury cars, including his custom-made Lamborghini and his personalised Bentley. The cars were seized with the help of Florida’s Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, and aside from his luxury automobiles, the IRS seized several more personal assets.

As of yet, the rapper is yet to comment directly on reports of his latest arrest, and it remains to be seen what the longterm future holds for Tekashi 6ix9ine after breaking his supervised release conditions.

However, in a statement provided to Billboard, the rapper’s attorney, Lance Lazzaro, revealed that his client had been “charged with three technical violations regarding his supervised release” and that he was “confident that each specification will be dismissed.”
