6ix9ine arrested in Dominican Republic for assault

Rainbow-haired rapper and certified informant Tekashi 6ix9ine has been arrested in The Dominican Republic following an altercation that led to him assaulting two people, including his music producer.

The emcee (real name Daniel Hernandez) has not been present in hip-hop since his release from jail in 2020 when he released his track ‘Gooba’ and his album Tattle Tales. Since then, he has been trying to capture the Latin market and has made multiple appearances on Alofoke FM, a Spanish-speaking Dominican radio station.

According to multiple sources, the altercation in the Dominican Republic involved Hernandez and several other musicians. The incident saw the Brooklyn native attack two men, one of whom was his producer.

The artist was arrested while attempting to leave the country on a private jet, according to Felix Portes – a criminal lawyer in the Dominican Republic. The ‘FEFE’ musician was put on “migration alert”, and since his initial arrest, his whereabouts are unknown.

Taking to Instagram, Portes unveiled, “His trip was aborted. The popular artist is on the run, his whereabouts unknown since there is an arrest warrant issued for beatings and injuries and threats.”

Dominican newspaper Diario Libre reported that the artist’s girlfriend, Yailin La Mas Viral, was recording a track in the studio with 6ix9ine’s producer, Diamond La Mafia when he was allegedly attacked along with another person by a group.

The victim was allegedly attacked by the group and was hit with the butt of a gun and required surgery to have his jaw realigned. Earlier this year, Hernandez was ambushed at an LA Fitness gym in California, which led to him being hospitalised. However, the cases are unrelated.
