50 Cent announces new series following Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs documentary
50 Cent is working on a new true crime series titled Gang Wars, following the success of his Netflix documentary about Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
Gang Wars is described as “a raw, unfiltered true crime series that rips open America’s most infamous gang rivalries with unprecedented access and never-before-heard accounts.”
According to Deadline, it will “expose the street battles, betrayals, and power plays that built our modern criminal world.”
The series is set to be released on cable network A&E in a collaboration between G-Unit Film & Television and Citizen Jones.
Taking to Instagram on January 6th to announce the news, the media mogul wrote, “Gang Wars coming soon A&E I got some heat.”
The announcement of Gang Wars comes shortly after Netflix’s Sean Combs: The Reckoning, which 50 executive-produced alongside Alexandria Stapleton.
The documentary series centred around sexual misconduct allegations against Combs, described as “a staggering examination of the media mogul, music legend, and convicted offender.”
Speaking on his reason for creating the series, the rapper told GQ, “If someone’s not saying something, then you would assume that everybody in hip-hop is OK with what’s going on because [other rappers] will say, ‘I ain’t going to say nothing. I’m going to mind my business,’ because of a position that [Diddy] held in culture for so long, you understand? So [that] would leave me. Without me saying that I will do it, there’s nobody there.”
The show was viewed 21.8 million times in its first six days, becoming the second most-viewed Netflix release that week following the fifth season of Stranger Things, which is one of the most-anticipated shows in the history of the platform.
In addition to Gang Wars, 50 Cent is also set to release the second season of The BMF Documentary: Blowing Money Fast on January 16th via Starz.
