21 Savage casts Donald Glover for new film 'American Dream'

Her Loss emcee, 21 Savage, recently announced that he will be releasing a new film, which is a biopic about his life moving from London to Atlanta and his infamous 2018 detention by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

For the upcoming motion picture entitled American Dream, 21 Savage (real name Shéyaa Abraham-Joseph) had the ability to choose the cast and, alongside Stranger Things’ Caleb McLaughlin, Joseph has selected actor and rapper Donald Glover.

Both actors play Savage at different points in his life, and the cast features a star-studded line-up including Natasha Lyonne, comedian Druski, Gail Bean, Chad Lindberg, Victoria Pedretti, and Young Mazino.

Many know Donald Glover by his stage name, Childish Gambino, and the new trailer released by 21 Savage doubles as a music video for a brand new song. The music visual also includes cameos from Jabari Banks as Metro Boomin.

Donald Glover and Joseph have an extensive history of collaboration, and the trailer for the forthcoming film was directed by Donald, his brother Stephen Glover, Jamal Olori, and Fam Udeorji. The movie is set to land in theatres on American Independence Day on July 4th.

In 2018, Glover released a song entitled ‘This Is America’ which featured backing vocals from 21 Savage. The track scrutinised the nation and highlighted the dire state of American politics. Many assume this latest film may do the same.

American Dream: The 21 Savage Story is purportedly a full-length feature film about 21 Savage’s life. However, at present, it is unclear if it’s a real movie or if the trailer is a teaser for the upcoming album. You can watch the trailer below.
