Young Thug's Mac Miller collaboration was recorded the day before his death

Young Thug’s album Punk landed last week and has been on repeat ever since. Bolstered with countless features, one that always stuck out is his song with the late, great Mac Miller, ‘Day Before’. The rapper has elucidated on the number during a new interview.

Speaking with The Breakfast Club, Thug shared the story of the collaboration and that it had been recorded with Miller the day before his sudden and tragic passing back in September in 2018.

Young Thug was open and honest about the pair working together: “I was with Mac the day before he died. He was at my studio. We did the song on my album. This shit’s so crazy but it’s coincidental.”

“He came to the studio, did the song,” the rapper continued. “The next day he died. And the song that we did at the studio, the name of the song is ‘Day Before’. But the song is just about… women… It was like, flamboyant,” the rapper continued.

“I think deep on that,” Thug shared, “because it’s like, is that a sign? At some point, you want to know. At some point, it’s like, have you ever just wished God could really just talk to you?”

As well as Miller’s moment on the album, Young Thug also drafted in Drake, Travis Scott, Post Malone, Doja Cat and Juice WRLD, among others.
