Young Thug reveals surprising genre of his new album
Young Thug has revealed the genre of his upcoming album.
The Atlanta rapper only released his latest project, UY Scuti, in September 2025, but he’s already looking ahead to his next body of work.
In a new video posted on social media, Thug announced that his next album will be focused on R&B.
“R&B album soon, n*gga,” he said in the gym. “R&B album ’bout to get this shit all the way together, nah mean?”
Thug has worked with many R&B artists in the past, including Chris Brown, releasing the collaborative mixtape Slime and B in 2020.
He’s also teamed up with Usher, Jacquees, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Trey Songz, Ty Dolla $ign, Tinashe, Jeremih, and many others.
Not only that, but his fiancée, Mariah The Scientist, is currently one of the biggest names in R&B. She released her Hearts Sold Separately album in August 2025 and is the second most-nominated artist at the 2026 BET Awards with five nods.
Thug’s last project, UY Scuti, marked his return to albums following his release from jail in October 2024, having spent over two years behind bars as part of the YSL RICO case.
The LP debuted at number six on the Billboard 200 with 52,000 units in its first week, with features from Cardi B, T.I., Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Sexyy Red, Travis Scott, Future, and more.
Speaking on the album, Thug said, “I just feel big, you know. The name of my album UY Scuti. I feel like I’m one of the biggest stars. I did a lot. Foundating this culture. The new rap game that’s happening right now. I’m out of this world. Not like God, though.”
