Young Thug proposes to Mariah the Scientist during Atlanta concert
Young Thug proposed to his girlfriend, Mariah the Scientist, during a show in Atlanta this week.
Thugger got down on one knee in front of the crowd on December 16th as the words “Will You Marry Me” were displayed on the screen behind them.
The rapper was performing at State Farm Arena in his hometown as part of his benefit concert, “Hometown Hero: Young Thug and Friends.”
The couple had a long embrace before Thug said, “What’d you say, man?” Mariah replied, “I’m shaking. Put it on,” as Thug slid the ring onto her finger. Afterwards, Mariah said, “I guess we’re getting married.”
The engagement comes just days after Mariah told Power 105.1‘s Angie Martinez that she intended to settle down.
“I want to be married,” she said. “I hope so. Listen, that’s my plan. I can’t speak for everybody. That’s my plan, though. That’s what I’m doing. I want a baby … I want at least one. I’ll start with that and see how I can manage.”
Speaking to Hot 97 earlier this year, Mariah opened up about what she’s learned from dating Thug.
“For all the ladies out there that are thinking, ‘Well, I don’t wanna date a man with kids,’ and you’re like judging the idea of someone who has had that happen, I feel like dating somebody with kids has taught me more about a family unit than anything I could have ever imagined because you’re seeing it in real time.”
She added, “You’re seeing the ins and outs of parenting regardless if somebody is together or not together. Parenting is very interesting.”
Thug was released from prison in October 2024 after accepting a plea deal in the YSL RICO trial. He released his latest album, UY Scuti, in September, while Mariah dropped her Hearts Sold Separately project in August.
