YNW Melly ordered to wear a suit to Florida court hearing

YNW Melly has been ordered to wear a suit to his upcoming court hearing after refusing to appear at a recent date.

The Florida rapper has been in prison since February 2019 after being accused of killing two of his childhood friends, YNW Sakchaser (real name Anthony Williams) and YNW Juvy (real name Christopher Thomas Jr).

On May 21st, Circuit Court Judge Martin Fein ruled that Melly must wear a suit in court on April 30th.

“This matter having come before the court on an opposed motion to permit Jamell Demons to dress in civilian clothes for the hearings scheduled for April 30, 2026 and the court having been otherwise duly advised in the premises,” he wrote. “It is hereby ordered and adjudged that the unopposed motion to permit Jamell Demons to dress in civilian clothes for the hearing scheduled for April 30, 2026 is hereby granted.”

The court documents added, “Done and ordered in chambers at Broward County, Florida on 21st day of April, 2026.”

Melly is currently behind bars at Broward County Jail in Miramar while he awaits his second double murder trial, which is scheduled for January 2027. His first trial ended in a mistrial.

The hearing Melly missed was to set a date for motions to modify the conditions of his pretrial release. The April 30th hearing will see the rapper attempting to persuade the judge to grant his bond request.

It’s unclear why Melly refused to make an appearance in the courtroom for the recent hearing.

Melly is being represented by Drew Findling, who has previously worked with the likes of Donald Trump, Lil Baby, DaBaby, Gucci Mane, NBA YoungBoy, and Offset.
