YNW Melly’s mother claims rapper will be released from Florida prison soon

The mother of YNW Melly has claimed that the Florida rapper will be released from prison soon.

The 26-year-old is currently behind bars at Broward County Jail in Miramar while he awaits his second murder trial, and has been imprisoned since February 2019.

Melly is accused of killing two of his childhood friends, YNW Sakchaser (real name Anthony Williams) and YNW Juvy (real name Christopher Thomas Jr), in October 2018.

This week, his mother, Jamie Demons-King, took to her Instagram Stories to allege that her son would soon be a free man. “Melly coming [home] soon,” she wrote.

The update comes shortly after Melly asked to be released on bail while he awaits his trial, which is scheduled to begin in January 2027.

His attorney, Drew Findling, who has worked with the likes of Lil Baby, DaBaby, Gucci Mane, NBA YoungBoy, and Offset, recently claimed that he was living in “dehumanising” conditions in Fort Lauderdale.

He alleged that Melly went into solitary confinement in December 2021 on a 23 and one schedule, meaning he’s alone in a cell for 23 hours a day and allowed out for just one hour.

Findling also claimed that he hasn’t been allowed phone calls or visits for four years, with his visitation and phone privileges being revoked in 2022.

Melly stated that solitary confinement can be psychologically damaging and lead to long-term physical and mental illness.

Earlier this year, his mother took to social media to reveal how much she misses being able to hug and speak to him. “I miss my son today is a hard day seeing him in chains yesterday and I can’t hug him or tell him I love him,” she said.
