Yella Beezy released from jail on $750,000 bond amid new footage
Dallas rapper Yella Beezy has been released from Dallas County Jail after paying a $750K bond. The ‘Rich MF’ emcee was behind bars following a grand jury indictment for a suspected murder-for-hire plot. However, new footage has emerged.
The investigation taking place concerns a 2020 incident that saw the murder of Dallas emcee Mo3. The new footage that recently surfaced shows the late Mo3 being chased in a car on a highway before being fatally shot in broad daylight.
Beezy’s initial bond was set at $2 million. However, as CBS reported, in accordance with Texas bail bond laws, the Oak Cliff native was able to bail out by paying over 10% of the total sum owed. The decision to release Beezy was made on March 27th.
The artist’s legal team recently told TMZ that the newly seen footage has been entered into evidence and asserted that the ‘Raccs’ rhymer intends to plead not guilty. Speaking to the outlet, his lawyers explained, “We look forward to fighting the case in court — Yella denies the charges.”
His legal team added, “Mo3 was gunned down in November 2020 on Interstate 35E near Marsalis Avenue, where he was pursued by a balaclava-clad shooter after running from his vehicle.” They also insisted it had nothing to do with their client (Yella Beezy) and reaffirmed that they would fight the charges in court.
Yella Beezy has not been accused of carrying out the hit on Mo3 but has been accused of “orchestrating” his murder and hiring someone to kill his rival on his behalf. White is already behind bars in federal prison, serving a nine-year sentence on gun and drug charges related to the murder. Still, he has not been charged with murder.
Unlike YNW Melly’s court case, the prosecution in Yella Beezy’s case has not yet commented on whether they will pursue the death penalty against the rapper, as Texas is a capital punishment state. Although the investigation into Beezy is still taking place, what is known is that the emcee Mo3 were feuding at the time of the murder. Furthermore, Dallas police had reported a prior incident involving the rapper and Mo3’s manager fighting outside a nightclub.
