Yella Beezy misses murder trial hearing over mother’s death
Yella Beezy missed a hearing for his murder trial last week following the death of his mother.
The Dallas rapper (real name Makies Conway) is accused of paying someone to kill fellow rapper, Mo3, with his murder trial initially scheduled to begin on February 2nd.
However, at a pre-trial hearing on January 16th, it was pushed back until further notice. Beezy was unable to attend due to his mother’s recent death.
According to XXL, the hearing occurred at Dallas County Court, with the defence team requesting an extension over the amount of evidence brought forward by the state.
Judge Chika Anyiam will hold another hearing this week, telling the court, “The parties shall return next week to discuss a new trial date due to logistical issues and motions presented today.”
In a filing, Beezy’s lawyers wrote, “Much of the discovery has no relation to Conway. This discovery isn’t material to the outcome of the case. Nor has it revealed any new or relevant facts about the case. There’re audit files, jail calls, and many other files that aren’t relevant to the case.”
They continued, “There’re video files where many minutes pass and nothing happens. There’re numerous video files and other data showing or describing the same event that are duplicative. Some files aren’t labeled in a way that reveals their content and are labelled with numbers that have no meaning to the defence.”
If found guilty, Beezy faces up to life in prison or the death penalty. The alleged murder-for-hire incident took place in November 2020. Mo3 was shot and killed on Interstate 35 in Dallas at 28.
He was chased in his car and on foot before being shot as he tried to escape. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
