Wiz Khalifa indicted in Romania for smoking weed during concert

Pittsburgh emcee Wiz Khalifa has picked a new drug charge in Romania. While at a music festival earlier this summer, after smoking a joint, law enforcement charged him with possession of an illegal substance.

On July 13th, Khalifa was arrested and charged with possession of an illegal substance, but he was released from police custody. Following the event, Romanian law enforcement released a statement reading, “Investigations revealed that during a performance at a music festival in the Costinești resort, Constanța County, he possessed more than 18 grams of cannabis (a risk drug) and consumed another quantity of cannabis on stage in the form of a hand-rolled cigarette.”

Wiz, who resides in the US, is used to cannabis being legal in many states across his home country. However, in Romania, illegal use of cannabis can constitute a ten-year prison sentence. The nation considers it a “risk drug,” however, although the ‘Black & Yellow’ lyricist was charged, he wasn’t kept in police custody.

After being released from custody, Khalifa flew back to the US and took to X to apologise for his behaviour, writing, “Last night’s show was amazing. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big ass joint next time.”

However, after he was released, his case continued, and on October 16th, he was indicted in Constanța for illegal drug use. The Romania insider has reported that the crime is punishable by a fine or between 3 months and 2 years in prison. Although jail time is possible, the former is a more likely outcome of this indictment. Wiz Khalifa has been indicted. However, it is highly likely that there won’t be a request for extradition.

Earlier this year, Wiz Khalifa made headlines with another performance, but for positive reasons. On April 27th, during a Las Vegas show at Drai’s Beach Club, Wiz performed his heartfelt track ‘See You Again’ during which he showed photographs of beloved rappers who have passed away over the last five years, including the likes of TakeOff, PNB Rock, Young Dolph, King Von, XXXTENTACION, Pop Smoke and Nipsey Hussle. He also paid tribute to DMX.

In other Wiz Khalifa news, he has recently become a father again, over the summer, he and his girlfriend Aimee Aguilar welcomed a daughter. This is their first child as a couple, and according to news reported by People magazine the pair named their daughter Kaydence.
