Watch Kanye West’s Sunday Service cover of Adele’s ‘Easy On Me’ in memory of Virgil Abloh

Kanye West’s Sunday Service choir have covered Adele’s ‘Easy On Me’ in memory of Virgil Abloh, who passed away aged 41 yesterday after a long private battle with cancer.

West and Abloh both interned at Fendi in the same class together back in 2009. From there, they became creative partners, with Virgil taking charge of the artistic direction of his Watch The Throne project and was also appointed creative director of Ye’s agency, Donda. Abloh also created the cover art for 808s & Heartbreak, Yeezus, and My Beautiful Twisted Dark Fantasy.

Following his death, his family wrote, “We are devastated to announce the passing of our beloved Virgil Abloh, a fiercely devoted father, husband, son, brother, and friend.

“He is survived by his loving wife Shannon Abloh, his children Lowe Abloh and Grey Abloh, his sister Edwina Abloh, his parents Nee and Eunice Abloh, and numerous dear friends and colleagues.”

West and his Sunday Service choir’s tribute to his late friend saw them re-imagine the lyrics to Adele’s original. During the chorus, they sang, “Go easy on me, father, I am still your child, And I need the chance to, Feel your love around”.

Meanwhile, the words “In loving memory of Virgil Abloh, creative director of Donda” appeared on screen during the performance.
