Vince Staples releases new song 'Are You With That'

Ahead of his self-titled third studio album, Vince Staples has shared a new single, ‘Are You With That’.

The new record is Staples’ first offering since his 2018 effort, FM!, an album framed around the rapper taking over a radio show and allowing the listener to get wrapped up in his unique universe.

‘Are You With That’ is a sombre moment from Staples, who takes a crestfallen trip down memory lane during his formative years in Long Beach.

He raps in the opening verse, “Still outside, I don’t hide, From this shit for life, Had to fight for my life, Took them hits in stride, If I die for the guys, Have my candlelight, Goin’ up like the club, After that, go slide.”

“It really gives much more information about me that wasn’t out there before. That’s why I went with that title. I feel like I’ve been trying to tell the same story,” Staples previously explained in a statement about the album.

“As you go on in life, your point of view changes. This is another take on myself that I might not have had before,” he added.

Staples has released two tracks so far from the project and expressed another side to his character and show who the real Vince Staples is behind the wacky stunts and illusiveness.
