UK drill rapper DigDat sentenced to life in prison

London rapper DigDat has been sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of attempted murder last year.

The 26-year-old (real name Nathan Tokosi) has been jailed for a minimum of 24 years for actions described as “premeditated, reckless, and malicious.”

According to the BBC, he carried out a drive-by shooting in Notting Hill, west London, resulting in Daniel Offei-Ntow being shot six times in the head, mouth, and body.

The incident occurred in November 2023, and required the victim to have bullet fragments removed from his skull.

Helen Shaw of the Crown Prosecution Service described it as an “utterly mindless attack which very nearly claimed a life”.

She added, “That night, Nathan Tokosi clearly intended to kill his victim by shooting him in the head at close range, with CCTV revealing Tokosi doing several drives around the area in a stolen Audi in the days and hours before the shooting.”

As well as attempted murder, DigDat was also convicted of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, possessing ammunition with intent to endanger life, and possessing a prohibited weapon and ammunition without a firearms certificate.

Detective Constable Hannah Forrest previously said in a statement, “Tokosi is a highly dangerous individual, who had – at the time of the shooting – only just been released from prison after serving time for a separate offence.”

DigDat’s debut mixtape, Ei8ht Mile, reached number 12 on the UK Albums Chart in 2020. His highest-charting single is the title track featuring Aitch, which peaked at number nine on the UK Singles Chart. His song ‘Guten Tag’ with Hardy Dicaprio is platinum in the UK.
