Tyler, The Creator apologises to Selena Gomez for tweets

Tyler, The Creator, may be one of the most talked-about artists around right now as his album Call Me If You Get Lost dropped with immeasurable critical and commercial acclaim. But, he didn’t just use the album to push forward artistically and excel professionally; he also opened up about his personal life.

One such moment that will forever hang over Tyler is a series of tweets from nearly a decade ago aimed at Selena Gomez. The tweets were so volatile that they saw the rapper facing a ban from Twitter.

“I just want to fuck Selena Gomez in her fucking mouth,” tweeted the rapper many years ago. Now, with Call Me If You Get Lost, the rapper has addressed the inflammatory tweets.

The song ‘Manifesto’ sees Tyler open up about his indiscretion as he raps: “I was a teener, tweetin’ Selena crazy shit. Didn’t wanna offend her, apologise when I seen her. Back when I was tryna fuck Bieber, Just-in.”

While Gomez is yet to respond to the song, many have suggested that it was Tyler’s relationship with Justin Bieber (Gomez’s ex-partner) that caused the rift. Back in 2018, the rapper said: “No, we don’t like each other.”

“‘Cause, you know like kicking it with Justin, that’s my homeboy – she always be mean mugging me. Like why are you hating on me?”
