Tyler, The Creator reveals his favourite songs of 2024
Tyler, The Creator ended 2024 by sharing a series of his favourite songs that were released in the calendar year. Aside from releasing his own album last year, the Odd Future leader was also inspired by other releases throughout the 12 months.
Tyler’s list included songs such as Kendrick Lamar’s ‘GNX’, Lupe Fiasco’s ‘Dominican Barber’, SahBabii’s ‘Viking’, GloRilla’s ‘Hollon’, Tommy Richman’s ‘Green Therapy’, Luh Tyler’s ‘Change My Ways’ and ScHoolboy Q’s ‘Cooties’.
Other artists on his list included Knxwledge, David Miller, Tanya Blount, AZ Chike, Mk.gee, Ill Town Family and 800 Cherries. After naming his picks, Tyler said, “Thank you all for these songs I’m so grateful I get to hear them I love you I want to eat them broooooo.”
Tyler also featured his own song ‘Judge Judy’ on the list, which was met with confusion from an X (formerly Twitter) user. When someone questioned, “You put your own song on your list?” Tyler replied, “Yeah I like the music I make I’m confused on the question.”
Although ‘GNX’ was his pick from Kendrick Lamar’s latest album of the same name, Tyler recently rapped over the instrumental for ‘Hey Now’. His remix, titled ‘That Guy’, was released on Christmas Day after a fan requested a freestyle over the beat.
He raps on the song, “I’m the suspect, baby, I don’t play victim/ I’ll buy that n*gga building just to evict him/ What that Coachella pay like? It was eight figures/ Why don’t I fuck with them guys? ‘Cause I hate n*ggas.”
2024 was a big year for Tyler, with the Los Angeles rapper releasing his eighth studio album Chromakopia in October. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming his third number-one album and fastest-selling album of his career.
Chromakopia sold 299,500 units in its first week despite being released on a Monday instead of the typical Friday release schedule. ‘Noid’ was the lead single from the album, which featured the likes of Lil Wayne, Childish Gambino, Daniel Caesar, Doechii, Solange, Sexyy Red, Baby Keem, Teezo Touchdown and others.
A physical copy of the album included a couple of bonus tracks titled ‘Mother’ and ‘Thought I Was Dead’ featuring Playboi Carti and Santigold.
