Tupac Shakur murder suspect asks to exclude past confessions from Las Vegas trial

The man accused of orchestrating the murder of Tupac Shakur has asked to exclude his past confessions.

Duane ‘Keefe D’ Davis was arrested in September 2023 and charged with one count of murder with the use of a deadly weapon and the intent to promote, further, or assist a criminal gang.

According to Fox 5 Vegas, Keefe appeared in court on June 23rd and requested to remove evidence from police interviews and his 2019 book, Compton Street Legend: Notorious Keefe D’s Street-Level Accounts of Tupac and Biggie Murders, Death Row Origins, Suge Knight, Puffy Combs, and Crooked Cops.

His lawyers claim that a previous agreement with the Los Angeles Police Department protected those confessions.

However, prosecutors allege that his revelations violated the agreement, making them able to be used during the upcoming trial.

They claim the evidence is necessary to prove he was the “shot-caller” for the South Side Crips in commanding Tupac’s murder.

Keefe is scheduled to return to the courtroom for a status check on June 30th, with the trial set to begin on August 10th.

The 63-year-old previously claimed that comments in his memoir, Compton Street Legend, on television, and in police interviews were made for “fame and fortune.”

Speaking on his past comments, his lawyer, Michael Sanft, said, “Do I agree with him writing the book and doing all these interviews? No. Keefe knows that I’m in his corner and I have a personal pride issue here because I want to win this case too and I want to do the best job for Keefe that I can.”

Tupac was the victim of a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas on September 7th, 1996. He died in the hospital on September 13th from fatal injuries.
