Trick Daddy explains why he doesn’t feel African American

Trick Daddy has claimed he doesn’t feel African American while questioning how his racial group acquired the name. The Miami rapper, best known for his hit 2004 single ‘Let’s Go’, opened up the controversial discussion in a video posted to social media over the weekend.

In the clip, the 50-year-old stated he’s never been to Africa and pledged his allegiance to America, having been born and raised in Florida.

“I’m trying to figure out how ‘Afro’ get in front of my motherfucking race,” he said. “I ain’t never been to Afro-ca. I have never been to Africa. Afro or Africa. Never been there. I’m not from Africa. I was born and raised in Goulds, Florida. I was born in Goulds, raised in Liberty City in the Pork-N-Beans projects.”

He continued, “Ain’t never went to Africa, ain’t thinking about going there. And I heard it’s a beautiful place, yes. And I know it’s the motherland, yes. But not my mother, not her mother, and not her mother’s mother, that ain’t their land. Americans’ real true land is right here, on U.S. soils.”

Trick Daddy’s comments were met with both praise and backlash from people online. While many fans said they “agreed” with his point, others called him out for being “ignorant.”

This isn’t the first time Trick Daddy has made a bold statement about race. In 2016, he called black women “useless” while praising white and Latina women. “These Spanish, these white hoes, they just started getting finer than a motherfucker,” he said in a video. “Y’all black hoes better tighten up. Y’all doing all that extra shit for nothing. You not achieving nothing, bitch.

“You get y’all asses done, your titties done, y’all paying $150 to get your makeup done just to go to a local club, bitch. Tighten up, he. These Spanish and these white hoes getting very spiffy on y’all. They fuck around and learn how to fry chicken. You hoes is useless.”

Then, earlier this year, he compared white and black women once again. “The white women been trying to be like y’all for 150 years and now y’all doing all the shit the white women do. I don’t get it,” he said about black women styling baby’s hair.
