Trey Songz arrested for allegedly assaulting nightclub employee

Trey Songz was arrested in Manhattan, New York City, earlier this month for allegedly punching a nightclub employee in the face.

The R&B singer (real name Tremaine Neverson) was at Dramma Night Club in Times Square on December 4th.

According to the New York Post, prosecutors said he became “needlessly irate” when told the venue would be closing at around 4:25am.

Appearing in court on December 14th, Songz was arraigned on an assault charge over the club incident.

The nightclub worker was also granted an order of protection against the singer over the weekend, with Songz scheduled to return to court on February 18th.

Songz’s lawyer, Mitchell Schuster, claimed the singer was approached by individuals “who instigated a confrontation and attempted to surround him. His security intervened to protect him and contain the situation, and an altercation occurred in the ensuring confusion.”

He continued, “Despite being the target of the initial provocation, Trey was arrested. Public figures are often treated as targets for instigation in pursuit of headlines or financial gain. Trey is cooperating fully in both matters, and we are confident the full context and facts will come to light.”

Songz was also charged with mischief in the second degree over a separate incident that took place that same morning at the Mira restaurant and hookah lounge. He allegedly broke $1,500 worth of property, which included hookahs, DJ equipment, and sofas.

Earlier this year, Songz was accused of attacking a photographer in Long Island, New York. He allegedly assaulted a man and destroyed his equipment following a concert at Ivy Kitchen and Bar in Huntington.

The man had an X-ray and CT scan at the hospital and was diagnosed with a migraine, ankle pain, and a concussion.
