Travis Scott's Nike collaboration hangs in the balance

Following the death of ten fans at Travis Scott’s Astroworld event, the rapper’s collaboration with Nike now hangs in the balance.

Yesterday, it was confirmed that nine-year-old festival attendee Ezra Blount had passed away after being put into an induced coma and suffering severe brain damage following the crowd crush.

He became the tenth casualty of the event. The other victims were Bharti Shahani, Axel Acosta Avila, Mirza Baig, Madison Dubiski, Jacob Jurinke, Franco Patino, Rodolfo Peña, Brianna Rodriguez, and John Hilgert, the last of whom was only 14 years old.

As a result of his inaction during the crowd crush, brands are now starting to distance themselves from Scott. It’s a hefty price to pay for the events that unfolded that tragic evening.

Earlier this week, Nike told fans that their collaboration with the rapper was delayed and said it was “out of respect for everyone impacted by the tragic events at the Astroworld Festival”.

Initially, the range was expected to arrive on December 16th, but the release date is unknown. Nike aren’t the only brand that has moved away from Scott, with Fortnite removing his skin from their video game after Astroworld.
