Travis Scott appears in a WWE pile-on against Cody Rhodes

American rapper Travis Scott has been immersing himself in some extra-cirruclar activities as of late. In addition to recent collaborations with various fashion brands, as well as Fortnite and McDonald’s, the Texan artist has also been cementing his dream to participate in a professional wrestling match. On Saturday night, Scott was able to realise that dream, appearing alongside The Rock in the ring.

Appearing with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson at the WWE live event Elimination Chamber on Saturday, Scott helped the iconic wrestling star take down fellow WWE icon John Cena. Traditionally a ‘good guy’, in the theatrical world of wrestling, Cena turned heel and, along with The Rock and Travis Scott, helped to take down Cody Rhodes, WWE Champion.

One of the most memorable moments of Scott’s time in the ring came when he repeatedly slapped Rhodes, who was bleeding profusely on the floor at the time. After the match, Johnson reflected on the rapper’s performance, sharing, “He wanted to get his hands bloody.”

“I whispered to him as he was going out [to the ring], I said, ‘If you’re gonna get your hands bloody, make it count. Make it count.’ He slapped the shit out of Cody tonight. He was really, really hyped up,” The Rock recounted at a press conference.

Scott has long since been a regular celebrity guest at WWE events. Not only has his music been used as the official theme of the organisation’s premium live events, but he has regularly performed music at WWE events. Earlier in the year, he made an appearance at Monday Night Raw alongside Jey Uso.

Travis Scott was not the only hip-hop star present at WWE’s Elimination Chamber event. Taking place at Toronto’s Rogers Center, the show was attended by local wrestling fan Drake, who was sitting in the front row alongside Lil Yachty.

Yachty’s appearance came as a particular surprise for fans, given that the rapper cancelled dates of his Australia-New Zealand tour only days prior due to an apparent ‘scheduling conflict’.
