Travis Scott smashes Drake’s ticket sales record with Circus Maximus

Drake’s losing streak looks set to continue for the foreseeable future. It has recently been confirmed that Astroworld creator Travis Scott broke Drizzy’s record for the most ticket sales of any rap tour. Last year, following the release of his album Utopia, Scott embarked upon his ‘Circus Maximus’ tour which saw him perform across the world.

Drake’s ‘It’s All A Blur’ tour managed to sell a mammoth 1.3million tickets. However, ‘Circus Maximus’ has already surpassed this total after passing 1.5million in sales. Regarding revenue, though, the Scorpion creator doesn’t look like he is threatened by the Houston emcee.

‘It’s All A Blur’ grossed $320.5 million, and although the current total revenue of Scott’s tour is unclear. after 1.2million tickets he had only managed to gross $154.6million. The ‘Sicko Mode’ lyricist has been in Australia most recently, and he flew Canadian singer and songwriter The Weeknd out to be his special guest.

During the show, he thanked The Weeknd for giving him some of the biggest opportunities of his life. During one of the shows, Scott explained how the ‘Blinding Lights’ singer allowed Scott to open for him on what became his “first arena tour ever.” ‘The Madness Fall’ tour of 2015, which ran throughout November and December, hit every major city in the US and Canada, and Scott opened at every venue.

On October 18th, while performing in Sydney, Scott reminisced and spoke to the crowd about those days as he brought The Weeknd onstage, declaring, “This man right here let me open up for two tours when I put out my first album.”

Scott continued, “He gave me my first arena tour ever. If it wasn’t for this guy right now, I probably wouldn’t be on this stage right now.” Travis and The Weeknd teamed up earlier this year for a performance at Mike Dean‘s birthday show in Los Angeles.

On March 1st, Dean put on a special birthday show at the Wilton Theatre where the producer teamed up with The Weeknd to perform a cover of ‘In Heaven (Lady in the Radiator Song),’ a David Lynch track from his movie Eraserhead.

The Weeknd also performed ‘Take Me Back To LA,’ which was first performed in 2020. After this, Travis Scott performed ‘Fe!n’ from Utopia and then teamed up with Mike Dean and The Weeknd for ‘Circus Maximus.’

Travis Scott’s tours are known for their excitement, and he has taken extra safety precautions after his 2021 Astroworld tragedy.
