Travis Scott admits he was “nervous as fuck” to star in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’
Travis Scott has admitted he was nervous to act in The Odyssey.
Christopher Nolan released his latest movie in cinemas on July 17th, which stars the rapper as a bard in the adaptation of Homer’s poem.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Scott said that his role in the movie was “so random.”
Explaining how he secured the part, he said, “My phone went off, and it just said Chris, and I was thinking, ‘OK, I don’t know what this is about. Maybe he wants to go to a show.’ So I pick up, and he’s like, ‘Would you be interested in acting in a movie?’ But I didn’t think it was for him. I thought it might be for somebody else.”
In response, he said, “You know I make music, right?’ And then he just gave me this whole thesis on why. You know, I really enjoy his time. I’m really inspired by him; he’s a real mentor of mine outside of this. So I’m like, ‘Yo, whatever you down with, I’m down.’ However it goes, I’m with it. I was actually nervous as fuck, but it worked out.”
Scott, who also recorded a song called ‘When I’m Home’ for the end credits, went on to discuss being around Nolan and many A-list actors on the set of The Odyssey.
“I didn’t know that it was going to be Anne Hathaway, Tom [Holland], and Robert Pattinson,” he said. “A bunch of amazing people. And I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing. They were such an amazing cast. Chris is an amazing director. Everybody made me feel comfortable. I was just glad to be there and to watch him.”
He added, “It was hard to actually make everybody believe that I did this. I didn’t want people to think I just got placed in this.”
The Odyssey also stars the likes of Matt Damon, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, and many others.
