Tory Lanez transferred to another prison after near-fatal stabbing
Tory Lanez has been moved to a different prison after being stabbed by another inmate at the California Correctional Institution earlier this month. Lanez was stabbed 14 times in the prison yard, resulting in both lungs collapsing, and was taken to a nearby hospital in Bakersfield, California.
Following the attack, the Toronto rapper has been transferred to California Men’s Colony in San Luis Obispo, a prison located three hours away from his previous facility. While his attorney, Crystal Morgan, claims Lanez is in a good way, she says he’s not “necessarily happy” to be in the new prison.
According to TMZ, officials could no longer keep Tory safe at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi.
Lanez was airlifted to the hospital after being stabbed 14 times, which included seven wounds to his back, four to his torso, two to the back of his head, and one to the left side of his face.
A message to his Instagram account read, “Both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing apparatus. He is now breathing on his own. Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through. He also wants to thank everyone for their continued prayers and support.”
Lanez is currently serving a ten-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. He was convicted of three felonies in 2022, including assault with a semi-automatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. He will be eligible for parole in 2029.
His last album, Peterson, was released from prison in March and debuted at number 25 on the Billboard 200 chart.
