Tory Lanez shares updates from behind bars

Last year Canadian singer and rapper Tory Lanez was found guilty following a legal battle with Megan Thee Stallion concerning a shooting that occurred in 2020. As he awaits his official court date and sentencing behind bars, he has recently updated fans about new music. More specifically, he has confirmed the release of a track featuring his fellow Toronto native, Yoko Gold.

As he sits in jail, Tory Lanez (real name Daystar Peterson) is potentially facing a sentence of 13 years. Despite his attorneys’ efforts to reduce his sentence by attempting to disqualify the preceding judge on the case, their tactics are failing, and the singer is likely to spend the next 13 years in prison as a result of his 2020 actions.

The exciting announcement of new music came via his Instagram, which is still run by his team. His entourage also posted a screenshot of a statement he wrote on his phone that reads, “To my Family, my Friends, and to the Umbrellas worldwide, I want y’all to know I haven’t lost my faith in God and that I’m in high spirits.”

It continued, “I’m praying for the best and remain confident that God will bring me through this. I have spent the last seven months rehabilitating my mind, my body, and my soul. Though I came to jail a good person, I will leave as a great person. I’ve turned this jail cell into my work office.”

The lengthy statement went on to reference his record label One Umbrella, stating, “I will continue the legacy of the Umbrella from here or anywhere else. With that being said, all things One Umbrella will now be promoted on my main page through my team at my command. New music, merch, and updates start dropping tonight.”

Lanez has been cancelled by hip-hop culture, and this has been recently proven by the fact that Kylie Jenner has faced severe criticism for including one of his tracks in a TikTok video. Many consider it disgraceful, considering the 2020 shooting and legal battle that ensued occurred following a party Jenner held in Hollywood Hills.

The song alongside Yoko Gold is called ‘Hurts Me’ and will be available on all streaming platforms later today. Peterson has promised fans that he is dedicated to uplifting and empowering all of his artists and will continue to slowly but surely release tracks he was working on before his jailing.
