Tory Lanez’s prison stabber claims he acted in self-defence
Tory Lanez was stabbed 14 times in prison earlier this month, which included seven wounds to his back, four to his torso, two to the back of his head, and one to the left side of his face. Both of his lungs collapsed, and he was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
However, the attacker, Santino Casio, who is serving a life sentence for murder, is claiming he acted in self-defence. Casio said he heard rumours about Lanez putting a bounty on him and saw a suspicious object in his pocket. Believing he might have had a weapon, he attacked him.
“I heard some rumours that he was trying to put money on my head,” he told TMZ. “He felt uncomfortable living next to me. He said I was a threat. So I confronted him, and then I found out the same thing, they said he’s trying to put money on my head.”
After a “little discussion,” Casio claimed Lanez said some “crazy shit.” The next morning, Casio alleged he sat next to Lanez for a chat; upon returning to his cell, he said Lanez walked towards his door.
“He stood in front of my cell, looked at his boys, made a little smirk,” he said. “And when he showed me what he had and stuffed it in his pocket, I just rushed him. What he showed me looked to me like, I believed it to be a weapon at the time.
“So I rushed him and I snatched him, I just took advantage of him. I just threw him all over. I just kept slamming him and stabbing him.” Casio claimed he “felt threatened” but didn’t want to kill Lanez.
Following his comments, Lanez’s team issued a statement. “The recent attempt on his life was savage and ferocious, underscoring the clear and present danger he faces while incarcerated,” they said.
“Any claim to the contrary particularly from an individual serving a life sentence for heinous crimes is not only baseless but an absurd fabrication. His continued confinement is both a miscarriage of justice and a threat to his safety. He must be released immediately.”
