The strange reason Jack Harlow likes older women

Kentucky rapper Jack Harlow has been making music on the underground for over a decade. The ‘First Class’ musician rose to the top quite quickly and is currently among the few respected white rappers in the game. Since signing with DJ Drama’s Generation Now record label in 2018, the young artist has achieved incredible things and has quite the following.

Harlow was at the forefront of the genre for a long time. However, more recently, he has fallen back. The Louisville emcee has been in the public eye for a long time, but he is extremely private about his personal life.

In 2022, the lyricist geared up to release his sophomore album Come Home the Kids Miss You, and prior to the project’s release, the rhymer sat down with Rolling Stone magazine to speak about the LP and even opened up about his love life.

During the interview, Harlow unveiled that he had just turned 24 and, while speaking about dating, revealed that he had no problem with the prospect of dating someone older than him.

Elaborating on his stance, Harlow told the publication, “Maybe it’s an Oedipus complex… I like somebody I can learn from. And that’s for real. It sounds, like, sly, but really, I think that’s part of the appeal is somebody has definitely seen more than me, has got some years on me. I remember one time I tweeted, ‘I love when a girl has kids because it’s like, Oh, you’ve definitely f**ked.‘”

The rapper continued, “What’s crazy is I knew it’d be funny, but that’s really how I feel. If a girl’s had kids, you’re like, ‘Oh, yeah, you’ve gone there.’” Although he rarely talks about his love life and most definitely never gets into specifics, he did tell Rolling Stone that he was “open” to having a serious relationship.

In a coy fashion, Harlow detailed, “I’m always looking for the one. Um, well, I’m not on active hunt, but I’m very receptive and open. Like, I’m definitely not somebody that’s like, ‘I’m 23, I ain’t gonna find the one right now.’ There’s no reason for that. I just take things as they come. So I’m receptive.”

Speaking about his love for powerful women in music, Harlow opened up about some of his favourite female MCs and singers, suggesting, “Maybe that’s a patriarchal thing… I’m somebody that loves Nicki Minaj, loves Dej Loaf. And I’m not saying that because we’re doing an interview. I love these artists because they’re ill. I love the way they use their voice. I love the way they write. There’s something to pull from. I loved Fergie. I love Gwen Stefani. But I think a lot of guys have trouble finding themselves in women’s music.”

Harlow’s 2022 project, Come Home The Kids Miss You, wasn’t received well by critics and fans alike. However, his 2023 LP, Jackman, was praised more.
