The moment Beanie Siegel lost his cool with Charlamagne Tha God

Charlamagne Tha God is a provocative figure and radio host. Akin to characters such as DJ Akademiks and Joe Budden, Charlamagne often speaks candidly about rappers and doesn’t hold back. However, unlike podcasters, The Breakfast Club host is required to come face to face with MCs who visit the Power 105.1 studios and on many occasions, it hasn’t gone well for him.

The Breakfast Club has various gossip segments on its programme. From Angela Yee’s ‘Rumour Report’ to Jess Hilarious ‘Jess With The Mess’, a lot of speculation and industry hearsay is discussed. Furthermore, the hosts can sometimes find themselves worsening already toxic feuds.

Although hosts DJ Envy and formerly Angela Yee are usually respectful, the show’s third contributor, Charlamagne Tha God, has a tendency to go overboard with his comments and, occasionally, his adversarial style can enter the disrespectful.

This was the case in 2016 when former Roc-a-Fella emcee Beanie Sigel sat down for an interview with The Breakfast Club during which he and Charlamagne exchanged some heated words.

In fact, the discussion was doomed to be toxic from the start, with the host stating, “We’ve had some opinions about each other over the past month or so. I heard you on Tax [Season] podcast, and I [have been] questioning you with your diss records. I mean, you sounding like a hater lately man!”

Calling your guest “a hater” within the first minute of a discussion is not good practice and didn’t cool any preexisting tension between the two as they settled in for the interview. During their conversation, after Sigel explained why he split from Roc-a-Fella, Charlamagne suggested that he was bitter.

Asking Sigel about his pattern of falling out with rappers such as Jay-Z and Meek Mill, Charlamagne questioned, “Do you not think after a while it starts to look like your M.O.? It’s like: if something don’t go your way, you get upset! It seems like you just flip.”

Fiercely fighting the insinuation he was a disloyal sinister agent, Sigel exclaimed, “I’m a man about mines! Is Kanye a street n*gga? No. But when Kanye put that phone call in, who was there?! He part of that thing of ours. So, I took penitentiary chances! I could have go booked out this motherfucker!”

Continuing his heated rant at Charlamagne, Sigel added, “He put the call in, and I was there strapped tooth and nail! Ready to bust ass about the nigga because he part of our family. You know why you don’t understand? Because you’re not from that cloth!”

Sigel called him a “coward”, and a “sucker” and then recalled the moment in 2009 when Charlamagne Tha God made Lil’ Mama cry on his radio show shortly after her mother had passed away, stating, “You’ll sit here and badger a little girl, Lil Mama until she cries, that’s what you do! You’re a coward N*gga! I can sit here and say I think you’re a bitch!”
