The Game disses current state of hip-hop: “It’s trash”

The Game has called out the current state of hip-hop, describing the latest music being released as “trash.”

The Compton rapper, who hasn’t released an album since 2022’s Drillmatic – Heart vs Mind, provided his take on today’s rap scene.

During an appearance on Big Boy’s Neighborhood, he said, “It’s trash. I don’t like it. And me, I’m just one of the best rappers on Earth, so what am I saying?”

Game doubled down on his claim when Big Boy asked if it’s bad to consider himself one of the best rappers in the game.

“I am, everyone knows this,” he said. “And anyone who disagrees with that, they’re lying to themselves. They need to get back to that mirror. They need to go step in that mirror, sit there, and then bring up my discography and everything I’ve done for hip-hop, LA, and the West Coast. I’ve carried a lot and not asked for nothing.”

The Game is currently working on The Documentary 3, the sequel to 2015’s The Documentary 2. It’s the third in the album series following 2005’s classic, The Documentary.

As an appetiser, a Gangsta Grillz mixtape titled All Movies Need a Trailer is scheduled to be released on November 28th. The project was recorded in just 48 hours.

“Yeah, it’s gon’ be good, man,” he told Big Boy. “It’s my first time doing a Gangsta Grillz. We always talked about it over the years. I went in on Friday, and I’m done. From scratch. Two days. It’s major. [It took me] 48 hours. 19 songs. I recorded, like, 60 songs over the weekend. But we picked 19. I’m just being Game.”
