Texas judge dismisses Tony Buzbee lawsuits against Jay-Z’s Roc Nation

A Texas judge has dismissed all of Tony Buzbee’s lawsuits against Roc Nation, the entertainment company Jay-Z owns.

Buzbee filed his lawsuits in December 2024, naming Roc Nation, Quinn Emanuel, and lawyer Marcy Croft as plaintiffs.

According to Complex, Hov’s company earned a full dismissal of the lawsuits by Texas state Judge Kristen Hawkins on June 16th. Hawkins ruled that he failed to establish a basis for the Texas court to hear the cases.

Buzbee accused them of using “shadowy operatives” and financial incentives to persuade his former clients to file “frivolous” lawsuits against him.

Upon filing his lawsuit in 2024, he said, “Today, The Buzbee Law Firm filed suit against Roc Nation and lawyers Marcy Croft and Quinn Emanuel for violation of various state laws, including barratry and impersonation of a public official.”

He continued, “The case was brought on behalf of a former client of the firm who was illegally solicited by agents working on behalf of the Defendants. These agents pretended to [work] for the State of Texas and offered the former client money to sue the Buzbee Law Firm.”

Buzbee represented the anonymous woman who claimed that Jay-Z and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs raped her following the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000. However, the accuser voluntarily dropped her lawsuit.

Hov has spoken out against Buzbee in the past. “My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee,” he once said. “What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle.”

He continued, “No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!”
