Suge Knight announces new memoir from prison
Suge Knight has announced that he’ll be releasing a new memoir later this year.
The book, titled Your Pain Is My Joy, is described as “a candid and unapologetic look inside the mind of the original rap kingpin.”
It will be released via Simon and Schuster’s Gallery Books on August 4th, and is available to pre-order on Amazon.
The description adds, “Electrifying, raw, and often hilarious, Suge gives readers a shotgun seat tour through the wild, wild west of gangsta rap.”
In the Death Row co-founder’s 352-page memoir, the mogul is said to “take readers on a thrilling ride through the Golden Age of Rap and the streets of Compton.”
Promising not to “shy away from the controversy that has followed him his entire life,” the book will include stories from the night of Tupac Shakur’s murder and fights with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
Knight is currently behind bars at the RJ Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego, serving a 28-year sentence after pleading no contest to voluntary manslaughter. The 60-year-old will be eligible for parole in October 2034.
He previously announced a book titled American Dream or American Knightmare in 2003, but it never came out.
“I wasn’t pumped up to do a book,” he said at the time. “I felt that most people who do books are in desperate need to grab a few dollars. That wasn’t the case with me. I felt there was so many books out speaking on me, speaking on Pac, speaking on Death Row. There’s a lot of question marks I need to put periods [on].”
He added, “It will be aggressive, plus there will be some educational things for the kids.”
