Suge Knight responds to alleged Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs gun confrontation
Suge Knight has responded to claims that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs confronted him with a gun over 25 years ago. During Cassie’s testimony earlier this month, she alleged Combs stopped a “freak-off” after discovering the Death Row co-founder was at a nearby Mel’s Diner.
The singer claimed that, in 2008, Combs and several men “covered their heads, grabbed guns, and drove to the diner.” She recalled, “I was crying. I was screaming, ‘Please don’t do anything stupid.’ I was just really nervous for them, what it meant, what they were going to do.”
Combs’ former assistant, David James, alleged he was ordered to drive with three handguns on his lap. “It was the first time I realised my life was in danger,” he said.
During a phone call with TMZ from behind bars, Knight said, “If he’d have confronted me and he had a gun, you best believe he was gonna have to use it, or something was gonna happen.”
“When you’re dealing with drugs and alcohol and even fear, some people if they feel they’re scared enough, they gotta do something. They can’t do it with their hands, so they gotta bring guns. If you got the serial number changed off, you best believe you’re going to use them.”
When asked if he was armed that night, he replied, “I was armed with my Bible. In other words, you know I’m not gonna answer that question.”
Knight is currently serving a 28-year sentence at the RJ Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego for manslaughter relating to the death of Terry Carter, along with California’s “three-strikes” law. He will be eligible for parole in October 2034.
