Snoop Dogg responds to backlash over Donald Trump inauguration performance
Snoop Dogg has responded to the backlash surrounding his performance at the Crypto Ball in Washington, DC, on January 17th for Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration. The Long Beach legend was among many rappers, including Rick Ross and Soulja Boy, who performed at the event.
Taking to social media over the weekend, Snoop took a moment to react to “all the hate” he’s received for showing support for Trump while smoking and listening to gospel music in his car.
“It’s Sunday I got gospel in my heart,” he said on Instagram Live. “For all the hate, I’m going to answer with love, I love too much. Get your life right, stop worrying about mine. I’m cool. I’m together. Still a black man. Still 100 per cent black. All out ’til you ball out or ’til you fall out.”
Snoop advised his followers to show love to one another instead of bringing people down “We gotta learn to pick each other up instead of pulling each other down,” he said. “That’s what we great at as black people. We great at tearing each other down. You can be up one minute and they’ll try to pull you down the next.”
He added, “But I’m a strong black man. I’m cut from a different cloth. You can’t tear me down. I’m one of God’s child. One of his children. Stay strong. The only way to beat hate is with love. Learn from the Dogg. Teach you something every day.”
Snoop has changed his tune since 2018, having previously condemned Trump following Kanye West backing him. “I don’t give a fuck,” he said on SiriusXM. “I tell ’em straight up, motherfucker. If you like that n*gga, you motherfuckin’ racist. Fuck you and fuck him. Now what? He drew the lines. Before him, there were no lines. Everybody was everybody, we respected everything, we didn’t trip.”
He continued, “When you drew the line and start pointing motherfuckers out and singling them out, fuck y’all then, n*gga. You and them. Kanye too. Don’t forget about him, too. Fuck you, too. Throw him in the bag, he right with them motherfuckers.”
