Snoop Dogg wants to replace Gregg Wallace on ‘MasterChef’
Snoop Dogg has inserted his name into the conversation of replacing Gregg Wallace on MasterChef following allegations of sexual misconduct. The longtime host recently stepped down from the cooking reality show for the foreseeable future amid an ongoing investigation, and Snoop feels like he could be the right person to replace him.
The Long Beach rapper recently revealed his dreams of appearing on the hit British show alongside claims that chef Gordon Ramsay would give him his full support.
“You better believe Snoop could be the new MasterChef judge,” he told The Mirror. “My boy Gordon judges on the US version of the show, and I know he would back me to be able to judge on the UK version.
“He knows I am not playing when it comes to food. He knows I can cook – I have even given him some tips. I hosted a cooking show over here and I have always been vocal about wanting to work on a UK show. I love the place – and for real, this could be the perfect opportunity.”
Snoop Dogg hosted Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party alongside television personality Martha Stewart between 2016 and 2020, with the show welcoming special guests such as Ice Cube, Wiz Khalifa, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, 50 Cent, Post Malone and Lil Yachty across its three seasons.
Wallace stood down as MasterChef host after the BBC received complaints from 13 people who had worked with him over the course of 17 years.
In a statement to BBC News, MasterChef‘s production company Banijay UK wrote: “Whilst these complainants have not raised the allegations directly with our show producers or parent company Banijay UK, we feel that it is appropriate to conduct an immediate, external review to fully and impartially investigate.
“While this review is under way, Gregg Wallace will be stepping away from his role on MasterChef and is committed to fully co-operating throughout the process. Banijay UK’s duty of care to staff is always a priority and our expectations regarding behaviour are made clear to both cast and crew on all productions, with multiple ways of raising concerns, including anonymously, clearly promoted on set.
“Whilst these are historical allegations, incidences brought to our attention where these expectations are not met, are thoroughly investigated and addressed appropriately.”
Snoop Dogg released his own cookbook in 2018 titled From Crook to Cook: Platinum Recipes from Tha Boss Dogg’s Kitchen, which included 50 recipes “straight from Snoop’s own collection.” They included baked mac and cheese, fried bologna sandwiches and soft flour tacos.
