Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre share new single ‘Outta Da Blue’

Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre have joined forces on a new song called ‘Outta Da Blue’ ahead of their Missionary album being released. The track finds Snoop and Dre going back and forth over a thumping instrumental produced by the N.W.A legend himself, along with co-producers Dem Jointz, BoogzDaBeast and FNZ.

New Jersey singer Alus also appears on the record, which interpolates M.I.A.’s hit 2007 single, ‘Paper Planes.’ The lyrics reference alcohol, women, smoking, money, and their dominance in the music industry, claiming they took hip-hop global.

In one of his many verses, Dr. Dre references the pair’s iconic 1999 single ‘Still D.R.E.’, which appeared on the 2001 album. “Still Dre, still on top, still got it, The sonic still iconic, they still sniffing the product, I seen the money coming, I showed you that I’m a prophet,” he raps.

Snoop Dogg adds, “Bottles and bitches, believe we back in business, The shit I be smoking is highly recommended, This for all of my n-ggas pushing the limit, My high, got me over here bending the flight attendants.”

Missionary will be released on December 13th as a sequel to Snoop Dogg’s classic 1993 album Doggystyle, which Dr. Dre produced. It will be released on Death Row Records, the Dre-founded label that Snoop recently purchased. The project will include features from Eminem, 50 Cent, Method Man, and many other huge names in the hip-hop world.

Dre previously compared Doggystyle to Missionary during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, admitting, “It was much more fun, to be honest, because we were kids at that time. Snoop may have been 18 or 19 years old and I think I’m six years older than him, so we were kids at that time.”

However, he said, “This one’s gonna show a different level of maturity with his lyrics and with my music. I feel like this is some of the best music I’ve done in my career. I’m not playing. The musicians I’m working with right now and some of the writers in the studio that are helping us. Snoop is really excited about this and so am I. I think people are gonna really enjoy this.”
