Snoop Dogg cast in boxing movie ‘The Faith of Long Beach’

Snoop Dogg has joined the cast of the upcoming boxing film, The Faith of Long Beach.

The West Coast rapper is set to star in the movie alongside Brandon Perea, who is best known for his role in Jordan Peele’s 2022 movie, Nope.

According to Deadline, the plot follows a street fighter who is battling between his troubled past and promising future.

The casting is fitting considering Snoop was born and raised in Long Beach, where the film is set.

Speaking on his role, Snoop said, “Death Row Pictures is proud to be a part of The Faith of Long Beach. This is the type of story that hits different – heart, grit, struggle and redemption all wrapped up in that Long Beach spirit. This one got soul.”

The movie is being written and directed by Eric Amadio, who worked on FX’s Snowfall series.

“With Brandon, I knew instantly I had my nuanced, complicated fighter,” Amadio said. “And with Snoop, I’ve got the authentic OG who’s seen every version of that kid and still bets on him anyway. It’s an honour to shine a long-overdue cinematic spotlight on the city and people of Long Beach.”

Snoop will also serve as a producer alongside Sara Ramaker and Adonis Tountas. “Partnering with Snoop and Sara on The Faith of Long Beach represents a truly special alignment of creative vision and cultural authenticity,” Tountas said. “Snoop has long embodied the spirit, resilience, and heart of Long Beach, making him an essential voice in bringing this story to life.

He continued, “Eric has crafted a deeply moving screenplay, and with Brandon Perea’s extraordinary talent, we have the opportunity to create a film that will captivate audiences and leave a lasting impact.”

The news comes just months after it was announced that Snoop had been cast in Eli Roth’s new horror movie, Don’t Go in That House, Bitch!.
