Sexyy Red believes she’s the most hated rapper in the world: “They be hating on me”

Sexyy Red is one of the most polarising female emcee’s out at the moment. Her hyper-sexual lyrics and debauchery have left many worried about the state of female rap and the kind of people getting put on a pedestal. While many call her “sexually liberated”, others consider her to be a bad representation of Black women.

Regardless of what people think of her, as a public figure, you will always be subject to negativity. However, Sexyy Red recently insisted that she is the most hated female rapper and questioned whether or not record labels are trying to thwart her growth as an artist by dragging her down on social media.

Many artists have seen similar levels of hate online. However, this is the first time Red has suggested that the industry is attempting to regulate her growth and even stop her rise. At the end of last year, in a strange turn of events, Bruno Mars got into the studio with the controversial St Louis rapper to record ‘Fat Juicy & Wet’, a party record.

That said, with popstar Bruno Mars seemingly endorsing her, many have accepted her place in the mainstream. However, during an interview with Big Boy on the Big Boy’s Neighborhood radio show, Sexy Red repeated her frustrations, and despite the big feature, she still feels that she is being subjected to hate she doesn’t deserve.

While speaking with the radio host, the ‘Pound Town’ rhymer detailed, “I feel like I’m the most hated female rapper. Like, they hate on me the most. I get a lot of love, but I know when they be hating on me. They be hating on me. It be like little inside sh*t.”

She then questioned whether labels or other industry figures are pushing the hatred by stating, “They trying to put me down. I be feeling like, ‘Is y’all sending people to comment under here? I feel like it’s some hidden agendas. It could be labels. I just be feeling like they don’t like seeing me win.”

This sparked debate online concerning which female rapper receives the most hate, with one writer commenting, “Aaand, I’m not going to pretend she doesn’t get hate, I see it too. It’s not a competition, but we ALLL know who truly is the most hated, come on now,” but another user wrote, “It’s actually Nicki.”

Whether it’s Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice, or Sexyy Red, bold, outlandish, and extroverted female rappers have always been targeted in hip-hop, but Sexyy Red may have a genuine sense that something strange is going on with her specifically.
