Sean Kingston released from jail after posting $100,000 bond

Sean Kingston has been released from police custody after posting a $100,000 bond. The ‘Beautiful Girls’ singer was arrested earlier this week after failing to meet the financial terms of his bond and was held at the Federal Detention Center in Miami.

Kingston and his mother were found guilty of $1 million in wire fraud in March. They allegedly participated in a “scheme to defraud victim sellers of high-end specialty vehicles, jewellery, and other goods purchased by the defendants through the use of fraudulent documents.”

He was placed under house arrest with electronic monitoring and ordered to post a surety bond for a home valued at $500,000 and $200,000 in cash. Kingston failed to meet all of the requirements, missing $100,000. His defence told US District Judge David S. Leibowitz that they couldn’t raise the cash after asking family members, resulting in his jailing.

However, there has since been a change in proceedings. On April 15th, Kingston’s lawyers confirmed the bond had been posted, telling Billboard, “Sean’s bond was posted and being processed. He has not yet been released as of 4pm today.”

His mother, Janice Turner, will stay in federal custody until their sentencing on July 11th, where they could face up to 20 years for the six charged counts.

Kingston and Turner were indicted in July 2024. The musician was accused of using his fame and social media accounts to convince sellers to deliver items before providing payment.

They allegedly “enriched themselves by falsely representing that they had executed bank wire or other monetary payment” on the purchases but never sent the money. The pair reportedly stole around $1 million worth of property.
