Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ mother issues statement defending son
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ mother, Janice Combs, has broken her silence for the first time since her son’s arrest. She has shared a statement about defending the music mogul who is currently being held in a detention facility following charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
Combs was initially arrested on September 16th in New York. Despite offering to pay $ 50 million to secure bail, his offer was rejected due to his being viewed as a flight risk. There is currently no set date for his trial as more evidence is collated and cases are put together. His mother has remained silent on the charges until now.
In a statement released to Local 10 News on October 6th, she claimed the barrage of allegations made against her son stems from a “narrative created out of lies.” Combs also said that while her son may have originally lied about assaulting Cassie Ventura in 2016, all of the other allegations against him are false.
“I come to you today as another that is devastated and profoundly saddened by the allegations made against my son, Sean Combs. It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies,” she wrote, “To bear witness to what seems like a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words.”
Combs continued, “Like every human being, my son deserves to have his day in court, to finally share his side, and to prove his innocence.”
Janice also brought up the footage that CNN published earlier in the year. It showed Combs hitting Ventura at a hotel in 2016, which he had previously denied doing. “Sometimes, the truth and a lie become so closely intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit one part of the story,” she said, “Especially when that truth is outside the norm or is too complicated to be believed.” Once the video was posted, the music mogul posted an apology on his social media for his actions.
Combs has pled not guilty to all the allegations that have been made against him by the authorities. He has made it clear that he intends to fight the case in court and is currently being held in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn while he waits for a trial date. Combs could potentially face life in prison, if he is found guilty.
