Judge dismisses $33 million RICO lawsuit against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ mother
Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs’ mother was sued for $33 million in January. However, the RICO lawsuit was dismissed by the judge on September 19th.
Deon Best (also known as D1) alleged that Janice violated the RICO Act and brought a series of state law claims involving Diddy, seeking damages related to business disputes.
According to Yahoo, Judge Percy Anderson ruled in Janice’s favour, dismissing the RICO claims with prejudice but dismissing the state law claims without prejudice.
D1 claimed that Janice orchestrated a scheme to take his royalties, intellectual property, and publishing revenues.
The news comes shortly after Janice shared a character letter pushing for Diddy’s prison release, in which she admitted he “has made some terrible mistakes in his life, which I know he recognises.”
He was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and will be sentenced on October 3rd.
Combs is pushing for a 14-month sentence that would see him released later this year with time served. However, the probation department is recommending a maximum of seven and a quarter years.
In Janice’s letter, she added, “On December 21st, I will be 85 years old. This separation for the past year, while Sean has been incarcerated, has been excruciatingly difficult and painful for me and his children. I would like to spend the last few years of my life with my son, Sean.”
Janice previously addressed his legal situation shortly after his arrest. “My son is not the monster they have painted him to be, and he deserves the chance to tell his side,” she said in a statement. “I can only pray that I am alive to see him speak his truth and be vindicated.”
