Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs demands to know names of accusers

The legal case against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is still ongoing ahead of a trial scheduled against the rapper in May, 2025. As is common in these scenarios, many of the details and specifics remain disclosed until the courts deal with them.

Combs faces over 120 allegations against him, in addition to 11 civil lawsuits which are running concurrently outside of the criminal charges. Combs’ trial is due to charges related to racketeering, sex trafficking and transporting for prostitution across state lines.

The Bad Boy founder remains behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where he will stay until the official trial starts in May, 2025.

At this stage, many of the alleged victims’ names are still unknown to Combs and his legal team. Therefore, his attorneys are now arguing that it will make the allegations harder to fight in court as they are not able to prepare a defence for their client properly and are asking for a list of names.

Combs’ team argue that knowledge of the accusers will make it easier for the allegations to be specifically addressed and fought in a court of law. As such, they have filed a motion demanding the court reveal the names of all people involved in the case against the mogul.

The request was filed on October 15th, with Combs’ lawyers suggesting that if the names are made public, there will be “voluminous” evidence to show that all of the alleged illegal activities were consensual and within the law.

The request did not ask for the name of “#Victim 1” as the document explicitly reveals that Victim #1 dated the defendant, meaning they can identify these allegations. Still, they feel strongly that the federal prosecutors working the case should provide more information than they have so far.

Although they are primarily interested in the federal case against Combs, his attorneys are also not happy with the level of anonymity in the lawsuits set to be filed by Tony Buzbee. They have suggested that the recent wave of lawsuits the lawyer’s clients have filed is due to the protection they can receive as anonymous claimants.

They described the Buzbee lawsuits as the cause of a “pervasive ripple effect” and instead that it is an unfair, non-stop “torrent of allegations by unidentified complainants.” In a statement released to TMZ, Sean’ Diddy’ Comb’ attorneys asserted, “The press conference and 1-800 number that preceded today’s barrage of filings were clear attempts to garner publicity.”

This is not the first time that the defendant’s legal team has voiced concern over Buzbee. On October 14th, the team criticised his motives and claimed Buzbee was using the attention gained by the Diddy case to boost his public profile. It is unclear yet whether the court will identify all of the individuals involved in his federal case.
