Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs complains about his lack of laptop time while in prison

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been under strict supervision since his detention in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Centre. However, it appears he is now unhappy with his lack of a laptop. At Combs’ behest, his legal representative, Marc Agnifilo, recently sent a letter to a federal judge, insisting that the musician’s treatment in the facility has been unfair and unnecessarily harsh.

More specifically, Agnifilo highlighted how, compared to other inmates, Combs has no access to a laptop. The letter sent by Agnifilo reads, “We write on behalf of Mr Combs to request that the Court direct the MDC to provide Mr Combs with the laptop prepared for him by the government and allow him to use that laptop on his unit, consistent with the way other inmates on his unit are permitted to use their laptops.”

In his correspondence with Judge Arun Subramanian, Combs’ defence lawyer expressed that he feels the courts are not holding up their side of the deal and detailed how a laptop would help Combs’ defence in the lead-up to his May 5th trial.

Detailing how the government gave Combs a laptop for use in the centre, Agnifilo continued, “Two months after he was charged and detained, on November 25th, 2024, the government provided the MDC with a laptop that Mr Combs can use to review discovery, take notes related to his case, and otherwise assist in his defence.”

Agnifilo added, “In the nine days since then, Mr Combs has still not been provided with the laptop despite numerous inquiries by defence counsel.” In the lawyer’s words, “The government has indicated that it intends to file a response.” Still, the terms proposed by Agnifilo may be rejected.

In his letter, Combs’ representative suggests that Combs should be able to use a laptop either in the “unit’s video-teleconference room during select times when legal staff is available and when that room is not otherwise being used during other inmates’ legal calls; or …he will only be provided with the laptop in the legal visiting room between the hours of 8-3:30pm.”

Agnifilo concluded that, from a legal perspective, the restrictions that have been placed on Combs concerning access to a laptop are “untenable.” Furthermore, he has suggested there is “no justification” for his treatment thus far.

Combs recently had his third bail request denied and remains behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Centre, charged with racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. The Bad Biy founder has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
