Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs denied bail for third time

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was denied bail for a third time on November 27th after appearing in Manhattan federal court last week.

The Bad Boy boss is currently detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, having previously pled not guilty to sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution charges.

According to Rolling Stone, Combs has been accused of trying to tamper with witnesses and, with the help of fellow inmates, contacting third parties in an attempt to sway a potential jury pool. US District Judge Arun Subramanian said, “The government has shown by clear and convincing evidence that no condition or combination of conditions will reasonably assure the safety of the community.”

Prosecutors have called Combs a danger to the community and stated that he should be held without bail due to his alleged record of being physical with romantic partners. Court documents say Combs’ employees have “described the defendant threatening to kill them, throwing objects at them, and being struck, punched, and shoved by the defendant, and seeing him do the same to others.”

Combs allegedly violated Bureau of Prisons rules by using inmates’ prison numbers to reach outside parties. “To obtain or maintain access to other inmates’ PAC numbers, the defendant directs others to pay the inmates, including through payment processing apps and BOP commissary account deposits,” prosecutors claim.

They allege Combs has been in contact with people who weren’t on his approved call list and orchestrated a publicity campaign through his children. Prosecutors believe Combs is capable of tampering with witnesses and victims, claiming he’s been in contact with people who testified in the grand jury and used parties to find “dirt” on people.

Combs offered a $50,000,000 bond for bail and promised to follow strict house arrest instructions. Prosecutor Christine Slavik alleged in court, “The defendant here has demonstrated either he cannot, or he will not follow rules. The defendant, simply put, cannot be trusted.”

A legal representative for Combs argued he’d be less likely to come into contact with people if he was detained at home with private security who could watch him at all times.

Coms has been charged with sex trafficking and racketeering. He is set to face trial in May 2025. The musician has pled not guilty to all of the charges, denying all accusations of wrongdoing.
