Former Black Hippies member ScHoolboy Q is preparing to release his sixth studio album, Blue Lips, and has been highly active on social media, teasing fans with snippets. However, he recently took to Twitter/X to highlight how many MCs from Los Angeles are currently succeeding in the culture.
On February 21st, the Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) lyricist presented the accomplishments of his LA counterparts and emphasised all the fantastic things they are doing. Some of the names he mentioned include Tyler, The Creator, Ty Dolla $ign, Vince Staples, SiR, Ray Vaughn, The Alchemist and Hit-Boy.
Tweeting excitedly, the artist wrote, “TYLER DOIN SHIT WIT LOUIS. TY$ NUMBER 1 IN THE WORLD. VINCE GOT A WHOLE FUCKING SHOW ON NETFLIX. SIR THIS FRIDAY. RAY VAUGHN wit PUSHA. AlCHEMIST BEEN DOIN’ IT SINCE HE WAS 15 & and still doin’ it.. HIT BOY GOIN’ DUMB. BLUELIPS NEXT WEEK [facepalm emoji]. LA LA.”
In a follow-up post, he highlighted all the artists from the city who are going to release material this year. Acts he mentioned include Dom Kennedy, Jay 305, DJ Mustard, YG, and Traffic. He also named his TDE peers Jay Rock and Ab-Soul.
To prove his point, ScHoolboy Q tweeted, “DOM THIS YEAR JAY 305 this year T.F this year MUSTARD & YG this year. TRAFFIC. JAY ROCK. SOUL [two facepalm emojis].” Praising all of these artists, the lyricist really proved how prolific the West Coast currently is.
Concerning his love for Tyler, The Creator, earlier this month, the Odd Future rhymer shared his debut collection for Louis Vuitton and thanked his idol and mentor Pharrell Williams during his reveal.
Taking to Instagram the Flower Boy artist wrote, “A Louis Vuitton collection by TYLER OKONMA. Hand drawn craggy monogram. chess board is my favorite thing ive made.” He continued, “Thank you @pharrell i love you, you keep throwing me the keys. the @louisvuitton team thank yall for allowing these ideas come to life.
