Ray J’s mother confirms son’s “life-threatening” heart issues
The mother of Ray J has spoken out about her son’s health issues, claiming his heart disease is “life-threatening.”
Sonja Norwood took to Instagram to address claims that the singer was pretending to be ill for clout.
She denied the allegations, saying he’s suffering from severe chest pain and that his heart is struggling to pump blood around the body.
“It’s just really gotten out of hand when someone thinks that my son is faking his health, or it’s a hoax, or he’s just playing around, [and] he’s not really serious about it,” she said. “All of you who have been genuinely concerned about him and genuinely prayed for him, I want to say I thank you very much for that, because it takes multiple prayers and thoughts for things to change.”
Norwood added that Ray has new limitations and must rest, requiring adjustment to his new condition.
Ray was rushed to the hospital in Las Vegas in January due to pneumonia and heart pains, claiming his heart was only beating at 25% and that he would die in 2027.
At a recent concert, he was accused of using fake blood for attention after it was spotted falling from his eyes.
Ray’s manager, Melinda Santiago, denied the accusation, saying, “The bottom line is Ray J has been in and out of the hospital dealing with health and heart issues. That is a fact. Another fact is that the meds that Ray is on have some side effects.”
She continued, “It’s absurd that a local videographer (not our team) would want to clout chase for five min of fame off of Ray J name and play about Ray being sick is sick in itself. My job is to protect my artists backstage from opportunistic people. If we can’t do that, then I’ll be cutting off all backstage access moving forward.”
