Rapper Roddy Ricch claims he was denied entry to Canada

Rapper and singer-songwriter Roddy Ricch has claimed he has been denied entry into Vancouver, Canada. He suspected the move might be part of a wider harassment controversy following his latest appearance at Kendrick Lamar‘s The Pop Out West Coast concert.

Ricch initially gained help and support from rapper Drake in 2020 when trying to enter the country, which has, of course, led to wider speculations about whether Ricch’s recent association with Lamar has caused the rapper to encounter significant difficulty when attempting to enter British Columbia.

However, in a statement posted on his Instagram story, Ricch revealed that border control would not let him in and that he was “tired of the harassment.”

The rapper wrote: “The Federal Border Patrol did not allow me into Vancouver, BC. I apologize to my fans. I don’t believe I’ll be revisiting Canada anytime soon because they’ve harassed me everytime I’ve come and I’mma be completely honest, I’m tired of the harassment.”

Ricch performed his hit ‘The Box’ during Lamar’s recent show after joining the bill with names like YG, Tyler, The Creator, Dr. Dre, and more. Ricch’s decision to accept Lamar’s invitation didn’t happen easily, however, after the rapper revealed he had to make the decision to decline Paris Fashion Week in order to attend Lamar’s coveted lineup.

“Yeah, Paris Fashion Week cancelled,” he explained during a chat with Big Boy. “We just had plans, and I had talked to Dot. I’m like, ‘Man, I spent a lot of money in Paris already.'” After giving it heady consideration, the rapper realised he couldn’t miss the LA show. “It’s bigger than us,” he admitted. “It’s a blessing to just see everybody from the different communities just being together.”

While it’s safe to say many stars wouldn’t give up their sought-after Paris Fashion Week spot for any other performance, the rapper didn’t seem disappointed in his decision, captioning a post on the day of Lamar’s show: “ITS LIKE INCOME TAX DAY IN LA TODAY!”
