Quavo of Migos to star in new action thriller 'Takeover'

Quavo of Georgia hip-hop superstars, Migos, is to star in a new action thriller.

Entitled Takeover, the flick is being produced by Quality Films and Trioscope per a report in DeadlineIt is directed by Greg Jonkajtys and features a script from Jeb Stuart, who worked on classics such as Die Hard and The Fugitive, and Brandon Easton, the mind behind Marvel’s Agent Carter

Quavo is to feature as Guy Miller, a parolee whose attempting to get his life back together. However, he gets roped back into Atlanta’s hazardous street racing scene before too long. To capture the true essence of the culture, Takeover will use a blend of live-action and animation to capture the stunts, sideshows and tricks.

This isn’t Quavo’s first time acting. He’s previously starred in AtlantaBlack-ish and Narcos: Mexico and Randall Emmett’s upcoming flick Wash Me in the River

“I’m really excited for this opportunity, especially shooting in my hometown of Atlanta,” he explained in a statement. “This film is an ideal opportunity to further delve into my craft, and I can’t wait to see how the action plays out in this animated environment.”

As for music, Quavo dropped his most recent record Quavo Huncho, back in 2018, which was his debut solo album, but it was released to lukewarm reactions across the board. 

This is not to say he hasn’t been busy, though. Back in January, he released the single ‘Shooters Inside My Crib’, and he recently performed at the 2022 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, as well as featuring on tracks by Bobby Shmurda and Pop Smoke. As for Migos, they returned with their fourth album, Culture III, last year, which featured collaborations with Justin Bieber and Cardi B. 

Takeover is shaping up to be one of the hottest films of the year, so keep your eyes peeled for more details.
